It’s been an incredible summer of events for the Soapy Productions team. We produced a whopping 36 events between May and August across Yorkshire and beyond, making this our busiest summer of events ever!
Here’s just some of the highlights:
17 Race For Life & Pretty Muddy Events with Cancer Research UK
Soapy Productions has been working with Cancer Research UK for 14 years, providing PA and production for the warm-up stages at Race For Life Events across Yorkshire and the Humber. These events are always a favourite for the Soapy crew, who really go above and beyond to make sure the participants get the best, most fun experience as they set off on their charity run!
We provide KV2 ES PA systems and technical crew who manage the content output. They’re also usually on hand with air horns at the start/finish line!
York Pride – Main Stage
York Pride is the City’s largest public event, taking place on the Knavesmire every year. This was the first time Soapy Productions worked with York Pride, providing full production for the main stage. This included a 10m Stagemobil XXL stage plus PA wings with an 8x2m catwalk, triple KV2 ES PA system (flown), lighting, and pyro (including cold spark, smoke, and confetti canons). We also built an accessible viewing platform with a ramp. The main stage was seamlessly run by our brilliant tech crew who can’t wait to get back on this event for 2025!

YorkMix Hero Awards
The YorkMix Hero Awards takes place at York Racecourse, honouring North Yorkshire’s finest, from charity fundraisers to those who’ve overcome adversity. Soapy Productions provided full AV production, including PA, lighting, pyro, and live vision mixing with an online feed for viewers at home to watch the awards ceremony live.
General Election Count, Northallerton
We were asked to provide the PA, stage and lighting for the election count in Northallerton, which just happened to be Rishi Sunak’s constituency. This also meant providing sound feeds to the world’s media during the declaration – and subsequently Rishi’s speech conceding defeat!
We then sent the lectern to Channel 4’s The Last Leg, where Adam Hills did a great little feature about this now ‘historic’ lectern. The idea was to auction off the lectern for charity, but unfortunately it was later buried in a storage unit with The Last Leg set, never to be seen again. We appreciated the shout-out though!
St Gemma’s Hospice Sunset Walk
We’re proud to work with many hospices across Yorkshire – including St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds. The Sunset Walk is yet another fabulous charity participation event in our production calendar. This year we provided out 7x6m Stagemobil L, with triple KV2 ES PA system, along with party lighting using LED Pixel Panels, wash and profile lighing. We also built a curved start-finish truss gantry with colourful lighting to set the mood as walkers made their way out – especially as the weather set in, we tried our best to keep the party going as the heavens opened!
York Proms
Another of York’s flagship events. We provided two stages – the main stage which was a Stagemobil XXL (10m) with PA wings, alongside the community stage which utilised our Stagemobl L (7m) trailer stage. Our triple KV2 ES system was configured as three PA stacks, with full production for the orchestra and two opera singers. The community stage had a range of choirs and soloists throughout the day. As the sun set on Museum Gardens, our full stage lighting production created the wow-factor, made all the more impressive alongside the fireworks display at the finale.
WiggyFest, York
This was a record breaking year for WiggyFest, welcoming a whopping 3,000 people through the gates for a day of live music and entertainment. We provided full band production on our 7m Stagemobil L (7x6m) stage, and triple KV2 ES system to pack a punch for the whole audience! We provided everything the bands needed, including back-line and range of mics. Our sound tech crew had great fun working with some of York’s finest local bands.
This is just a flavour of the events we have produced in Summer 2024 – there have been plenty more fantastic events we have been a part of, along with too many stage hires to count! Other events included Bakewell Show (main stage), York Relay Weekend (for Cancer Research UK York), Rockin’ All Over the Wold rock festival, North Yorkshire Sport Get Moving, and Leeds Girl Guiding event.
We are now in full swing for the Autumn/Winter season, with some more flagship events coming up including Martin House Children’s Hospice Glitter Ball (full AV production), Keighley Chistmas Lights Switch-on, St Gemma’s Light Up A Life evening, and the York UNESCO City of Media Arts Expo.
