About Soapy Productions.

Soapy Productions is based near York. The origins of our production company started back in the early 1990’s. What originated as a mobile disco 30 years ago has now changed dramatically over the years.

From 5Bellies Discos (you read right), to Demon Promotions in the 1990’s. We changed the name again to SHMS Event Production in the late 00’s. This name remained until 2018 when the production arm became part of The Soapy Group and we re-branded to Soapy Productions.

The combination of event management and production has been key to the company’s success. Working closely with national organisations like Cancer Research UK, local and national radio stations and well known brands for 30 years really makes us proud of who we are and who we work with.

We regularly produce events across Yorkshire including; Leeds, York, Harrogate, Hull, Sheffield, Bradford and many more towns in our region. By keeping it local we get to work with fantastic venues and spaces close to home. The relationships with venue partners and clients is really an important part of what we do and who we are.

Simon Hudson our MD has been involved in live events longer than he really wants to admit. But the passion of creating a production that entertains and informs has remained.

From the Disco’s to event roadshows. Live concerts for 20,000 people on millennium eve. Medical conferences, where delegates discuss how to better save lives. To the birth of cloud computing. Producing London Fashion Week catwalks for over 5 years was interesting. The pleasure of working with Iggy Pop, Mel C, Van Morrision, Peter Andre, Blue, Ant and Dec, Judge Jools, Danny Rampling and Pete Tong, the list could be considerably longer. These celebrities were just some of the highlight moments.

The one thing Simon has learnt over the last 25 years is that production staff can have a reputation of being miserable. This is a large part of what’s different about Soapy Production staff. Our team of in house staff and army of freelancers we have available enjoy what we do. We are really passionate about making your event a success. This is why we are used by national charity’s, councils, event producers and radio stations alike.
