Soapy Productions is part of The Soapy Group, based near York, which specialises in marketing and events, promoting businesses all over the UK. The origins of our production department started back in the early 1990s. What started as a mobile disco has now changed dramatically over the years. The combination of event management and production has been key to the company’s success. Working closely with national organisations like Cancer Research UK for 10 years really makes us proud of who we are and who we work with.

Simon Hudson our MD has been involved in live events longer than he really wants to admit. The one thing he has learnt over the last 25 years is that production staff, on the whole, are miserable. This is a large part of what’s different about our staff. We are really passionate about making your event a success. This is why we are used by national charity’s and local fetes alike.

Simon Hudson

Simon has been working on live events across the UK for the best past of 3 decades. He has worked on radio roadshows, product launches and live events for 20,000 people. He’s been involved in most and has the T shirt too. Simon says it takes a great level of dedication and attention to detail to produce a live event.

Working for Cancer Research UK on their Race For Life, Pretty Muddy and Relay For Life events has really been his highlight. That’s 200 plus events with more than 400,000 people raising over £20,000,000 in the Yorkshire region. Every person attending the past 10 years has heard our sound systems, listened, laughed, cried and danced their way to the finish line.

Ian Surgenor

Ian has been in the entertainment industry both on and off stage for 30 years. His talents have lead him to working for Soapy Productions as our Production Manager. Ian loves working with clients and bands alike and has a refreshing approach to stage management. When he’s not working off the stage he’s on it as well. Ian’s band Sister Madly are a well-known party band, based in the York area. Ian also runs Big Voice Promotions, booking acts for our festival stages based on our clients requirements.

When he’s not at work, Ian love spending time with his family and being involved in the local music scene. Ian is really passionate about helping local charities and has helped York Against Cancer raise over £30,000 in the last 3 years. His York Rocks Against Cancer events are now an established event in the York music calendar.
